About Design and Flow

IT’S TIME TO CHANGE DESIGN TO DESIGN CHANGE

Design and Flow is a strategic design collective that facilitates actionable change. We identify relationships and highlight opportunities in order to design behavior that encourages positive social impact and shared responsibility.

Based in NYC, we partner with like-minded individuals and organizations, from all design backgrounds and corners of the world, to #addflow to turbulent social, organizational, political, economic and environmental situations and to inspire the design of elegant interventions that support lasting advancement. We then disseminate the collaborative work through a variety of publication outlets, curated exhibitions and our D&F label offering proprietary designs for sale and open designs for download.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY ACTIONABLE CHANGE?

Positive, meaningful, durable solutions that can be implemented.

REVEALING RELATIONSHIPS AND HIGHLIGHTING OPPORTUNITIES MEAN THAT

We bring to light relationships between individuals, communities, concepts, and objects. These complex systems, when examined as a whole, reveal areas of opportunity for incremental, but impactful, design intervention.

DESIGN BEHAVIOR IMPLIES:

Once the seed is planted, these behavioural changes, informed by design, lead to a shift in attitude. We believe that even the smallest actions contribute towards larger impact.

POSITIVE SOCIAL IMPACT:

Positive social impact is at the core of our mission. It requires understanding the needs of communities to develop thoughtful, human-centered design solutions that result in more resilient cultural, environmental, economic and political systems.

LEADING TO THE LAW OF SHARED RESPONSIBILITY:

Everyone and everything is interconnected. That means that each action has an impact on the system at large. Once you recognize your connection to an issue, you can no longer ignore it. You, along with everyone else, are now accountable, and it is your responsibility to take action. Together, we #AddFlow.

The Dream Team

TPL_SUBTITLE_THE_DREAM_TEAM

We are a multicultural dream team of curious people that share a passion for creative flow and a love for impactful design. Every member adds a unique set of skills, ranging from strategic and design to curated programming, project management and research. We are committed to changing the conversation surrounding design by encouraging designers and thinkers to learn through collaboration and shift their intent to design for greater social transformation. We are constantly designing and experimenting with the way we work. For starters, we do not believe that location limits us. We are also champions of a true collaborative approach - every member of our team’s input is valuable to the bigger picture and discussion.

We curate collaborative experiences from inception to implementation. This includes educational, cultural, social and design programs focused on creating meaningful change. We also consult with forward-thinking nonprofit and for-profit companies, NGOs, and public institutions, providing strategic insight and well-executed and result-driven solutions to support each company’s mission and inspire durable social impact.

We are also conscious like-minded consumers who have built a collection of innovative and socially conscious products as part of the D&F Label. These unique items are designed in-house or in collaboration with select international designers. Together, we #AddFlow.
