In:Bodied

Design and Flow is proud to announce its ongoing theme: In:Bodied. In:Bodied examines design’s response to current social and political global events, technological breakthroughs and environmental emergencies. In:Bodied is divided into two paths examining The Augmented Self and Agents of Change.

IN:BODIED: THE AUGMENTED SELF

How can design, at the intersection of body, mind and technology, shape our common future and encourage the unfolding of an augmented self? In:Bodied focuses on anchoring this unfolding design narrative in tangible expressions of an emergent global culture, where human identity is defined beyond borders and tradition is regenerated along science and technology.

Through a series of worldwide curated installations, experiential events and educational programming, Design and Flow showcases how today’s designers are navigating our evolving cultural-technological landscape. We explore the future of sustainable fabrics, the advent of fashion as a socially engaged practice, and the influence of wearable tech and bio-textiles on new ways of organization around the body.

IN:BODIED: AGENTS OF CHANGE

The world stands today in dire need of a new wave of design leaders; humans that embody the message of inclusivity and shared responsibility, and that contribute to the rising collective and creative movement to strategically, and positively, address system level challenges and transform the realities around them.

In 2017, Design and Flow invites designers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels from around the globe, to reawaken their latent creative capabilities and refocus on a human-centric design process. With the ultimate goal of creating concrete, impactful, and thoughtful solutions to a myriad of local and global contemporary challenges.

Transitions: Migration and Travel

CONVERSATION

In our transient lives, movement from one place or state to another is common, if not expected. Our boundaries are constantly being redefined, both physically and conceptually. Yet all this movement is creating new challenges and reinforcing existing ones, intimate issues of belonging and identity become critical: voluntary versus forced migration, passports, visas, adapting to regulations and technologies, refugees, illegal immigrants, acceptance and integration into new cultures and societies, while needing to keep connections to native lands and homes alive.
